Each year, in addition to other scheduled capacity building programmes across different spectrums, we convene the annual She Forum Africa Conference to broaden the conversation and provide a platform to re-prioritize on development targets in a manner that resonates with current realities of women and girls.
Ahead of the 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, and the need to shore-up women’s representation in the democratic governance space, the She Forum Africa 2022 Conference is strategically convened to leverage on the momentum of the approaching 2023 General Elections to deepen process ownership, bridge experiential knowledge gap and skills transfer on effective gender mainstreaming at a moment of leadership change-over and its implication for early and timely adoption of target goals. With a renewed burst of advocacy around the affirmative action deficiencies across sectors, it is expected that the Conference will additionally lay the foundation for the attendant accountability mechanism to be incorporated into the electioneering process across parties.
Significantly, we are delighted to welcome the Southern Africa Embrace Foundation based in Toronto, Canada to Abuja, Nigeria as the Foundation partners with She Forum Africa to co-host the WOMEN LEAD FORUM, ABUJA jointly with She Forum Africa 2022. The inaugural Women Lead Forum held in March 2022 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and is running on the theme #StepItUp for its designated 4 City-stops in 2022.
